Utah State Fair

Last Friday night we met some of Gary's family and went to the State Fair up in SLC. I had never been... EVER... I was looking forward to seeing what it was all about.. Madi was excited to see all the animals and ride some rides. Here are some of the pictures we got..

Gary was really interested in seeing the dutch oven cook off!! Everything smelled SOO good!!


Here are a couple of the animals we saw! We saw lots, but here are some of the highlights.

Madi was convinced that Wilbur was one of the baby pigs in there..

This is Madi petting the rabbits. The brown one is the softest rabbit EVER!!!

The whole evening we kept walking past this trailer with this guy yelling, "come see the 11 foot Alligator!!" Every time we went past it perked my interest just a little bit more.. I totally caved and paid $$$ to see this thing.. Oh well, at least Madi liked it.. I almost felt bad for the thing... There wasn't any room for it to move around. He was pretty big though. I'm glad I looked at it or I would have thought about it the rest of the night.

Madi managed to go on some rides. The rides were pretty expensive so we didn't go on too many.

Here's one that all three of us went on.. Gary was on camera duty so he didn't get on with us.

Here is the last ride Madi went on. We only had enough tickets for one person so Madi went on this alone. She met a friend in line and went with her. Her name was Sabrina.


Most of the time Jackson was just hanging out, resting his legs and enjoying the view!! He got fussy, but the SLC Police was there with a little booth handing out suckers. These suckers were a lifesaver!! Jackson loved them..


Speaking of the SLC Police Dept... Gary has a new crush.. You'll have to ask him about her..

Okay, now to a new subject.. The food. WAY over priced, but I guess it's fun to buy dinner there just for the experience.. We did try the deep friend PB&J sandwich, the deep fried snickers, and the deep fried oreos. The PB&J was okay, the snickers was better (the snickers was Gary's favorite..), but I think I need to give a shout out to the deep fried oreos!!! VERY good.. I think that was Madi's favorite too.

While we were walking around Gary's brother, Bryce dared Gary to ride the mechanical bull. At first Gary said no, but Bryce said he pay for it... Here is the result of the conversation..


Alright, last, but not least.. The 4H Club. We walked around and looked at all the different things the kids in 4H had been working on. Pretty impressive stuff. There ws painting, sewing, baking, SO many things. When I saw this It really touched me. I don't know why it touched me, but I just thought it was so cool. I always loved YW when I was young and I loved serving in the YW when we lived in Logan. The YW Organization will always hold a special place in my heart.


Well, there in a nutshell was our Utah State Fair experience. It was fun, but Gary and I both mentioned that we weren't going back for five years. See you in 2013!!!
